We installed the top 200 pi packages on omp

67% of them work. Of the 138 packages with a clear result, 92 install and load on omp 18.12.3, and 46 fail.

How we tested

On 2026-10-20, we took the 200 most-downloaded pi packages on npm. We installed each one with omp plugin install in a clean container, then started omp with the package loaded. A package passes when it installs, loads without errors, and adds commands, tools, or skills. The test does not call those tools, so a pass means the package loads on omp, not that every feature works.

The other 62 packages need a companion package, an API key, or other setup before they start. The test cannot tell whether omp is at fault, so they stay untested.

Why packages break

Most failures come from gaps in omp's compatibility layer for pi packages, not from bugs in the packages.
