pi-curiosity
A small Pi extension that periodically nudges coding agents to investigate evidence, back every claim with evidence, reuse existing code, search for an existing implementation before building a new one, and keep new code easy for humans to find and understand.
Install
pi install npm:pi-curiosity
To try it without installing:
pi -e npm:pi-curiosity
Configure
The default is one cue every 10 tool calls. Configure the interval globally in ~/.pi/agent/settings.json:
{
"pi-curiosity": {
"toolInterval": 10
}
}
A project .pi/settings.json value overrides the global value. toolInterval must be a positive integer; invalid values use the default.
The cue is injected into the next model context after the configured number of tool calls and is hidden from the visible transcript.
The cue asks the agent to search the repository and its dependencies first, then search online for an existing implementation or library, before writing new code. It applies to any task, however small, and asks the agent to report either Reused: <source> or New implementation because: <reason>. It also asks the agent to back every claim with evidence, stating what is unverified instead of asserting it.
