omp-plan-link
Keep proposed Oh My Pi (OMP) plans accessible from your project directory, even after you select Refine plan.
When OMP proposes a plan, this native extension creates a symlink in the current working directory pointing to the original session-local plan file. No core patches, filesystem watchers, polling, or background services.
my-project/
└── implement-search-plan.md
→ <OMP session artifacts>/local/implement-search-plan.md
Why
OMP's plan review window closes when you choose Refine plan. The plan still exists in the session's local/ directory, but opening that file manually means finding its session-specific path.
omp-plan-link puts the same plan within reach of your editor or terminal, without making a separate copy that can go stale.
Requirements
- OMP
>=18.2.11 <19. Tested with OMP 18.2.11 on Linux. - An interactive session with OMP's UI context available.
- Permission to create symlinks in the current working directory.
This extension targets OMP's native planning workflow, not standalone upstream Pi. OMP supplies the host modules; there is no separate build step or runtime dependency installation to perform.
Install
omp plugin install omp-plan-link
Restart OMP after installing. The plugin is enabled by the installer and loads automatically; no -e flag is needed.
To install a specific version:
omp plugin install omp-plan-link@0.1.0
Package: npmjs.com/package/omp-plan-link
Usage
- Start OMP in your project directory.
- Enter plan mode with
/planand ask OMP to prepare a plan. - When OMP submits the plan for review, the extension creates a project-local symlink using the plan's original filename.
- Select Refine plan. The link remains available while you write your feedback.
- Open the linked file in your editor or terminal. Changes to the session plan appear through the same link automatically.
For example, a proposal backed by local://implement-search-plan.md becomes accessible at:
./implement-search-plan.md
OMP displays a notification when a link is created. The extension adds no commands or configuration options and does not change the review, approval, or refinement UI.
Tip: OMP's built-in /plan-review command also reopens the latest plan review while plan mode is active. It is independent of this extension.
How it works
The extension subscribes to OMP's native tool_result event. After a successful write to xd://propose, it reads OMP's resolved planFilePath from the result and resolves it using the current session's local-file mapping.
It then creates the symlink before the native review window opens. It does not guess the filename from the proposal title or hardcode your OMP state directory.
Safety and limitations
- No overwrites. An existing file, directory, or symlink pointing elsewhere is left untouched. OMP shows a warning, and plan review continues normally.
- Repeated proposals are safe. If the destination already links to the same plan file, nothing is changed.
- No duplicate for a project-local source. If the plan is already at the intended destination, no link is needed.
- A link, not a backup. Writing through the symlink modifies the original plan. Deleting or moving the backing session artifact can leave a broken link.
- Session-specific, not a latest-plan pointer. Links remain tied to their original on-disk targets. Approval that starts a new session, session switching, or another session using the same filename does not automatically retarget an existing link.
- Only new proposals are linked. Loading the extension does not scan old sessions or retroactively link existing plans. Opening
/plan-reviewalone does not create a link. - Headless sessions are skipped. The extension only acts when OMP provides a UI context.
- No automatic cleanup. Links remain after OMP exits or the plugin is uninstalled. Remove unwanted links yourself after checking their targets.
- Links are machine-local. Their targets are absolute paths into your OMP session storage. Avoid committing them to Git; add specific generated filenames to
.git/info/excludeif needed.
If you see Plan link skipped, inspect the existing destination before moving or removing it. The extension will not decide whether another file or session's link is safe to replace.
Update or uninstall
Install the latest release:
omp plugin install omp-plan-link@latest
Uninstall:
omp plugin uninstall omp-plan-link
Restart OMP after either operation. Uninstalling removes the plugin, not the symlinks it previously created.
Use a local checkout
Load it for a single OMP invocation, from your project directory:
omp -e /absolute/path/to/omp-plan-link
Or register the checkout for ongoing local development:
omp plugin link /absolute/path/to/omp-plan-link
Restart OMP after linking. Use either the installed package or the local checkout, rather than loading both copies at once.
