omp-output-clarity

Makes OMP model output, tool progress, and final summaries visually distinct in the terminal.

Install

Install the package after it is published to npm:

omp plugin install omp-output-clarity

Install directly from a local checkout while developing:

omp plugin link /path/to/omp-output-clarity

Restart OMP after installing or upgrading the plugin.

The plugin works with the active OMP theme and changes global status-line settings only when you explicitly save /status-line.

What it changes

  • Instructs the model to begin each response with exactly one [MODEL] or [FINAL] response label.
  • Tracks [READY], [PROCESS], [MODEL], [TOOLS], [DONE], [STOP], and [ERROR] across session, model, retry, compaction, and concurrent-tool events.
  • Highlights finalized responses containing a standalone [FINAL] label with a themed deep background and surrounding spacing.
  • Collapses tool cards by default and supports fully hiding them without affecting execution or session data.
  • Persists one hidden, collapsed, or expanded mode per session branch; Ctrl+O changes the current view temporarily without changing that mode.
  • Configures which native OMP status-line segments are visible and applies changes immediately.

Commands

/tools-view hidden
/tools-view collapsed
/tools-view expanded
/status-line
/output-clarity-theme
/output-clarity-language en
/output-clarity-language zh

/tools-view hidden removes tool parameter and output cards from the terminal transcript. Tool execution, model context, errors, and session data are unchanged. Use /tools-view collapsed or /tools-view expanded to show all current and historical cards again. Explicit commands accept only hidden, collapsed, or expanded; invalid values fail without changing the saved mode.

The plugin interface defaults to English. Run /output-clarity-language zh to switch the current session branch to Chinese, or /output-clarity-language en to switch back. Running /output-clarity-language without an argument opens a language selector. The choice is stored with the session branch and restored when you return to it.

/status-line opens a searchable checkbox selector for every native OMP status-line segment. Use Enter or Space to toggle a segment without moving the cursor, then select Save and close to persist the selection as OMP's native custom status-line preset and update the current terminal immediately. Esc cancels without changing the saved configuration.

/output-clarity-theme checks the bundled JSON and atomically replaces the optional high-contrast theme file. In interactive runs, OMP also validates the staged theme before publication and activates it for the current run; headless runs install it without activation. Repeated runs are idempotent, and identical existing content is adopted as plugin-managed. Plugin-managed versions are upgraded, while unrelated or user-modified same-name themes are never overwritten. To keep it as the dark-terminal theme, run:

omp config set theme.dark output-clarity

Uninstall

omp plugin uninstall omp-output-clarity

The optional theme and its ownership record are intentionally left in the active OMP profile so uninstalling the plugin never deletes user files. Remove <agent-dir>/themes/output-clarity.json and <agent-dir>/themes/.output-clarity.owner manually if they are no longer needed, and select another theme first if it is active.
