pi-ibn5100-header
A compact IBN5100 pixel-art startup header for Pi.
The logo uses ANSI half-block rendering, the phosphor-green color #0edd7b by
default, and the terminal's default background so it works with dark, light,
and custom terminal themes.
Features
- Replaces Pi's built-in startup header.
- Uses a compact
IBN5100pixel-art logo. - Change the logo color with the interactive full-color palette, any
#rrggbbvalue, ordefault. - Uses terminal background reset (
\x1b[49m) instead of a hard-coded black. - Persists the enabled/disabled choice and the color across restarts.
- Makes no network requests and has no runtime dependencies.
Installation
Install from npm:
pi install npm:@natsubrei/pi-ibn5100-header
Or install directly from GitHub:
pi install git:github.com/Natsubrei/pi-ibn5100-header
Toggle the header
The extension is enabled by default. Use these commands inside Pi:
/ibn5100-header true
/ibn5100-header false
The preference is stored at:
~/.pi/agent/ibn5100-header.json
If the preference file is missing or invalid, the extension defaults to enabled with the green color.
Change the color
Run the command with no arguments to open the full-color palette overlay:
/ibn5100-color
The palette is a floating overlay drawn with truecolor: a grid of hues left to
right and lightness levels from light at the top to dark at the bottom, with the
grid width adapting to the terminal. Below the grid it shows the selected color
as hex plus HSL, and a live preview of the logo in that color. Use the arrow
keys to move the cursor, i to type an exact value, Enter to apply and save,
Esc to cancel.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
← → |
Move the hue cursor |
↑ ↓ |
Move the lightness cursor |
i or / |
Type an exact hex value |
Enter |
Apply the color and save it |
Esc |
Leave hex entry, or cancel the palette |
The palette opens on your current color; pressing Enter without moving the
cursor keeps it unchanged.
You can also pass a color directly, or reset to the built-in green:
/ibn5100-color #0aa35b
/ibn5100-color #1a6
/ibn5100-color default
Hex is case-insensitive, short hex (#1a6) is expanded to #11aa66, and
default restores #0edd7b. Only the glyph and frame color changes; the
background stays the terminal's default background.
The color is stored next to the enabled flag:
{
"enabled": true,
"color": "#0edd7b"
}
