Dreamtain for Pi
The official Dreamtain provider integration for the Pi coding agent.
It adds Dreamtain API-token authentication, model-availability validation, streamed responses, tool calling, and text and image
input to Pi. Choose Dreamtain / Morrow 1 or Dreamtain / Morrow 1 Flash in Pi's model selector.
Installation
pi install npm:@dreamtain/pi
Then start Pi and use:
/loginSign in with an API keyDreamtain- Enter a Dreamtain API token with the
ai.inferencepermission. - Run
/modeland selectDreamtain / Morrow 1orDreamtain / Morrow 1 Flash.
/login dreamtain skips directly to the Dreamtain token prompt. The extension validates the token against
Dreamtain's public model-discovery endpoint before Pi stores it.
To remove the integration:
pi remove npm:@dreamtain/pi
Requirements
- Pi 0.84.2 or a compatible later release
- Node.js 22.19.0 or newer
- a Dreamtain API token with the
ai.inferencepermission
Context window
| Model | API model ID | Context window | Maximum output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morrow 1 | dt-morrow-1 |
1,000,000 tokens | 32,768 tokens |
| Morrow 1 Flash | dt-morrow-1-flash |
262,144 tokens | 32,768 tokens |
The context window includes both the input and generated output. Pi compacts the conversation before a request would exceed the selected model's window.
Image input
Both models accept PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP image input. Pi prepares attached images before sending them to Dreamtain. The Dreamtain API enforces its own image-count, payload-size, and dimension limits.
Reasoning
Both models always reason; Pi's thinking level only selects the reasoning effort. low, medium, and high select
progressively larger Dreamtain-controlled reasoning budgets. Reasoning text remains private, while its token usage is
included in Pi's normal response statistics.
Credential security
Pi stores the token in ~/.pi/agent/auth.json with user-only permissions (0600). The credential is not encrypted
through an operating-system keychain. Use a narrow, independently revocable token and remove it with /logout when
it is no longer needed.
Pi 0.84.2 through 0.84.4 renders API-key input visibly even when an extension requests its documented secret
prompt type. This extension requests the secret type and never logs the token, but cannot alter Pi's terminal input
rendering. On affected versions, enter credentials only in a private terminal without session recording or screen
sharing.
Like every Pi extension, this package executes with the permissions of the Pi process. Review third-party packages before installing them.
