pi-tokyonight-theme
Tokyo Night themes for Pi.
Data-only package @accolver/pi-tokyonight-theme, validated with Pi 1.0.0. No runtime or host dependencies.
Includes 3 variants mapped from the official Tokyo Night VS Code theme:
tokyo-night— classic darktokyo-night-storm— storm darktokyo-night-day— light/day variant
Files
tokyo-night.jsontokyo-night-storm.jsontokyo-night-day.json
Install
Option 1: Pi package
After npm publication, install the pinned package:
pi install npm:@accolver/pi-tokyonight-theme@0.1.0
From a checkout, try the package without saving settings:
pi -e . --use-theme tokyo-night
Then select a variant in /settings. The package manifest explicitly exposes the three JSON themes.
Option 2: Global theme files
Copy the theme files into Pi's global theme directory:
mkdir -p ~/.pi/agent/themes
cp tokyo-night*.json ~/.pi/agent/themes/
Then open Pi and select the theme in /settings, or set it in settings.json:
{
"theme": "tokyo-night"
}
Other theme names:
{
"theme": "tokyo-night-storm"
}
{
"theme": "tokyo-night-day"
}
Option 3: Project-local theme files
Copy the files into a project's .pi/themes/ directory:
mkdir -p .pi/themes
cp tokyo-night*.json .pi/themes/
Project themes load only after granting Pi project trust.
Option 4: Load directly by path
You can also point Pi at the files directly:
pi --theme ./tokyo-night.json --use-theme tokyo-night
--theme loads a file or directory; --use-theme selects the initial theme for that invocation without changing saved settings. You can also register a directory through the themes setting.
Usage
Once installed, choose one of:
tokyo-nighttokyo-night-stormtokyo-night-day
Pi hot-reloads the active user theme only from <agent-dir>/themes/<name>.json (by default ~/.pi/agent/themes/<name>.json). Run /reload after adding or changing themes from other sources, including packages and project directories.
Color mapping notes
These themes were mapped to Pi's theme tokens using the official Tokyo Night VS Code palette and UI surfaces:
- accents and links use Tokyo Night blues/cyans
- markdown and syntax colors use the theme's code palette
- message/tool backgrounds use editor, sidebar, list, and popup surfaces
- success/error/diff colors use Tokyo Night green/red tones
- thinking level borders are mapped to a subtle-to-strong progression using muted, blue, cyan, purple, and red
